Join the Muses as the Moon Sets – at Dog Creek

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

We love full moons, full moons with texture and clouds and contrast and mystery.

It’s also quite lovely to  watch the moon set, against the glowing light of the new day

the muses flirt with our Springtime frog forces … returning to their shadows

for another day ….. of slumber

Cinema4 toss

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

while we’re waiting for the CS5 shipments, and the trial download – I mean Cinema4d is plenty to entertain.

Maybe create some fantasy, a  little  cosmic game, a little trapcode, a little porch time, a little extra dimension …  a little time ….

After Effects – feathering and cartoon, birds of a feather ?

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

I need to do a new recording. I thought this Spring would be nice theme and backdrop for doing simple testament to the mystery of Dog Creek, a beautiful cove that springs back into Life, literally each March.

A great backdrop to flirt with the senses, and flirt with some of After Effects special treatments. I’ve used this a few times already so …. don’t throw the bum out … I’ll get new recording soon but

… in the meantime ….

feathering and cartoon. Birds of a feather ? Little distortions, bluring of borders and color

I wanted to have some fun, have my head replaced with that of a deer for a few brief seconds.

Getting the deer was the first part because, you can nimate the path of your mask – and you can animate the shape of your mask. I didn’t really appreciate this but, if you’re tracking Some Thing – it’s probably moving, and depending your persepctive, it’s moving in and out of focus, a bit of  distance so besides keeping up  with IT,  you will probably want to animate the shape of your mask also because the size you want to capture is also changing.

I did OK on my first shot but was presently surprised how much some simple feathering added to  the ‘realism’ of this  head blending with mine, seeming less ‘edited’ and a bit more magic.

Same when I wanted to share my moment with a Hummingbird. animate the mask path … a lot – and animate the shape as the  hummer flies more closely – capture his action separately, add some nice feathering

nest that composite with ‘ME’ and it looks pretty good – like he may have been sharing that moment with me  …. all  along.

Cartoon uses similar techniques to  distort and blur it’s  captive image. The other worldly look of  everything naturally complements. Very different approaches,  very nice combined effect.

April After Effects

Friday, May 1st, 2009

use a little simple After Effects 3d to create some nice picture frame effect as you have a taste of our Springtime guests.

simply orient away from your path as you walk throught the Springtime museum, add some background if you like – I love the clouds I capture and the crisp Spring colors

After Effects – Time and Color

Monday, April 6th, 2009

I guess some of the best dramatic touches we see are when the creators flirt with time and color. Time is one of my very favorite topics and …. alas … if only we had more time ….

it’s a very objective experience and it passes very quickly … or interminably slowly depending on what it is and how we feel. so rather than something beyond our control, when we’re creating expressions, Time is a wonderful thing to play with.

natural events have their own time – storms – new blossoms blooming, water running down into our creeks and through the rocks after a long Spring rain.

when you want to share Spring color, watch and share events that have their own personality

use Time

After Effects – Clover and the Caterpillar

Saturday, April 4th, 2009

Out at Dog Creek we get pretty close to nature – caterpillars, baby deer, Springtime doves – plenty of life and color

I had a lot of fun with this but it’s still missing a lot and there’s a lot of reasons.

I want my little caterpillar to crawl across the ground, quickly then stopping carefully, then starting again … like a caterpillar
