if you are lucky enough to have a MSA agreement, it should be on it’s way to you, quite nice, although I’ve been told by support that their shipping department, is quite busy

Remember the days of download Apache add ons, configuring everybody to work together ….

then one day … it was just a touch of  a button and a bundle with everyone on board …

Nick has only just walked us through adding python to our plugins … and Maxon bundles it with this release.

All the better …

MAXON Announces Acquisition of Py4D

Cinema4D celebs

You never know who you might run into.  looking for some help scripting C4D, a little  Xpresso, I start at the top,

see Chris Smith at Siggraph 2010 but as we’re giving credits and referrals … there’s Greyscale Gorilla, Mike the Monkey, Cactus Dan, … you’da thought you were at a Grateful Dead concert

and speaking of flashback to the 70’s – what if the quest was all about – a scripting language … a language that could fulfill the noble ambitions of C++ … but you could actually use ??

enter Python ~  did I say Grateful Dead concert ?

but Python it is … with such a consensus that Maxon has added it to the family

still looking for good python tuts (any links appreciated ) but in meantime …

Chris’ has nice ‘presentation to Siggraph 2010′ but when I double check my link

Chris likes Python at Cineveristy you have to be member of Cineversity …. I’m sure there’s a free one out there somewhere

yes … it’s Python … not quite ready for Prime time  but it’s easy to download, easy to add to C4D, has a cute little C4D like tag, and there’s some … not a lot …. of tutorials and get starters out there.

Like Chris … which got off into the wilderness in the first place

and enjoy Chris’ Cstools which Nick presents, offers for download with instructions
CS tools download and install with the gorilla

and a cool vimeo on 3D stroke

Cinema4D – Landscape primitive

Monday, July 26th, 2010

you can have a lot of fun with C4D landscape primitive. Creating a diverse landscape with definitions for ‘furrows’, sea level, plateau it is very helpful to begin to create your own landscape model.

Create material that portray your land realistically,

you can animate your land dimensions if you want to do a universe creation gig – very flexible and C4D has all the goodies to go with it. Pyrocluster will help you create your volcano, smoke, if you like trapcode it is very easy to migrate to AE and add more pyrotechnics there.
I wanted a mandala sun using some of the geometery in AE than mapping trapcode’s ‘Shine’ to my sun object’s positions with the simplest of expressions binding shine to our sun.

the Magician C4D

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

I’m sure Anne won’t mind that I borrowed a few of her children ….

for the Magician

Honorable mention to Acoustica Mixcraft which I love so much I got copy for long lost friend for his birthday

sounds, sound effects, strings and a little help to get you started …..

for us non musicians … who love music

UFO – Acoustica Mixcraft 5 meets C4d and AE

Acoustica Mixcraft has an amazing toolbox of sounds, controls, special effects, synthesizers that help you add that most essential ingredient to your video … Sound.

Like any tool, there’s a learning curve, and I guess it helps if you have some musical ability but I have been pleased with my beginning compositions and about all I have is a natural love for music.

One of my favorite things about Mixcraft is that it helps you compose music but it also provides a very rich library of special effects, nature sounds, nature’s music

which gives your creative fancy, a little more flush.

let’s Bubble with CS5, C4d and Trapcode P

let’s Bubble with CS5, C4d and Trapcode P

Exploring Cinema 4d’s material options can take you into world’s you’ve never gone before. Texture, reflections, luminance blend to produce more than a look but a feel and a mood and very easily an other worldly atmosphere.

We love textures, we love our hidden associations that inspire us, or scare us, or attract us, or mesmerize

it is so easy to cross reality and map our dreams in visions

….  perhaps the only limit within apparitions

Materials, Shaders, and Silver Linings

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

playing with materials and textures in C4d is fun. We play with light and color in other animation products, some texture is available but C4d imitates the world. Wood, marble, stone, flower offering an easy step to imitate life and have a little more time for your ideas.

The AE plugin was released quite recently and the experience of faster rendering, viewing video thumbnails – whatever their source, offers more time …

for the fun stuff.

Sunday lights with C4d preset and a little trapcode

Monday, June 7th, 2010

it’s fun to play with presets, especially when they’re in C4d and the new batch in Trapcode Particular, 2.1.

There’s great examples of the amazing things you can do with C4d and the kinds of images and animations that tempt your imagination.

Shimmer and Light

Saturday, June 5th, 2010

let’s add some nice shimmer and light to our welcome.

Perhaps a warming glow that greets your visitor. Steps to create this shimmering disc can be found at

Video CoPilot – tut 85.  I added a little energy with Trapcode Particular CS5.

The shimmer and texture for this shape is a great library item with technique that can be used just about anywhere.

Have fun !
