Carnival – C4D

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

let’s go to the Carnival a bit early,

not quite Labor Day but then again, not much labor to celebrate this year

but Cinema 4D will provide a carnival nonetheless

celebrate ~

spline path – aliens need energy after all

animating a spline path in C4D can be just about anything. Energy connections, cellular growth, ‘mystical’ writing.
Define your skeletal outline, add a shape for your spline’s body, parent them with a sweep nurbs – I’d do C4D just for the crazy shape names. I wanna be nurb when i grow up …..

Friday ~ what a great day for a mystic alien

special powers, special shapes, magical possibilities

Alpha Matte from AE and Illustrator

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

mattes are fun and even more when you use a text matte to reveal your message.

Of course there’s really no message here tonight but a simple text animation revealing some fishy activity. Candidate for a political add.

Cinema4D – Landscape primitive

Monday, July 26th, 2010

you can have a lot of fun with C4D landscape primitive. Creating a diverse landscape with definitions for ‘furrows’, sea level, plateau it is very helpful to begin to create your own landscape model.

Create material that portray your land realistically,

you can animate your land dimensions if you want to do a universe creation gig – very flexible and C4D has all the goodies to go with it. Pyrocluster will help you create your volcano, smoke, if you like trapcode it is very easy to migrate to AE and add more pyrotechnics there.
I wanted a mandala sun using some of the geometery in AE than mapping trapcode’s ‘Shine’ to my sun object’s positions with the simplest of expressions binding shine to our sun.

C4D curves, splines, and flight paths

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

easy to define your flight path with a spline. Once you like it, you may create second, rail to provide balance and banking. With ‘tangential’ chosen, your object, your mythical beast will orient with your railing and then

find some fun background …. or create your own. External video blends quite well if you want your cartoon to flirt with reality.

playing with particles – trapcode CS5

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I upgraded trapcode to 64 bit which practically coincided with CS5 ….  hmmmm

only to be expected. Now if only Knoll Light Factory and C4d would go 64 bit we could all place nicely together again.

It’s fun and easy to create some impressive yet simple fireworks with trapcode particular.

While it’s supposed to augment your action and add fire to your fancy, you can have a lot of fun just playing with the different particles.

I’ve noticed an old tutorial where you see a preview of the particle you choose, can’t imaging why they let this feature go.

Apparently only Form now offers a preview, but there is a pull down of presets, with an ‘hd’ high density and an economy size particle for you.

There is a pulldown with the particle definition presenting the presets names and they are fairly intuitive but I think it will be fun to

create my own index, movie image set because, heck …. seeing is believing.

After Effects ~ a little Geometery can go a long way

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

After Effects ~ a little Geometery can go a long way with some flexible shapes and the repeater.

Perhaps the heart of animation is replication and illusion,

having simple things dream of grandeur and majesty or maybe just dream about a little geometry

Suite 64 Trapcode and CS5

Friday, May 7th, 2010

I’ve barely had a chance to unwrap CS5 but for all the patience of middle age, this is something we get excited about, look forward to and

my week has been overwhelmed … with  my city floating away.

I did take the time to upgrade my Trapcode to 64, have only begun to flirt a bit …

Premiere Pro really does let you edit hi def in real time … and we’ll be seeing so much more … so soon

CS5 ~ One of the fun things about new releases is the teases

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

One of the fun things about new releases is the teases. Connect to After Effects people and get little trailers of new things on horizon, new features, tutorials, examples …. media teasers

and one of my favorite AE things is their ongoing bonding  with like products that enhance AE and probably help everyone, especially us – the users. Mocha was package with CS4, CS5 will have Mocha  V2

this is from a post/link by Todd Kopriva – I haven’t  heard of  ‘Digieffects’ … looks pretty cool and looks like I’ll be using it pretty soon.

Digieffects FreeForm is an effect that distorts 2D layers in 3D space, using displacement maps and meshes that you define, control, and animate. FreeForm is included with After Effects CS5.

Documentation for Digieffects FreeForm is available on the Digieffects website. Digieffects also provides a rich library of tutorials and example projects.
