Alpha Matte from AE and Illustrator

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

mattes are fun and even more when you use a text matte to reveal your message.

Of course there’s really no message here tonight but a simple text animation revealing some fishy activity. Candidate for a political add.

Suite 64 Trapcode and CS5

Friday, May 7th, 2010

I’ve barely had a chance to unwrap CS5 but for all the patience of middle age, this is something we get excited about, look forward to and

my week has been overwhelmed … with  my city floating away.

I did take the time to upgrade my Trapcode to 64, have only begun to flirt a bit …

Premiere Pro really does let you edit hi def in real time … and we’ll be seeing so much more … so soon

Cinema 4d let’s let CS5 out of the box

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Well, there’s lots of demos, lot’s of info,

lots of good guide tutorials – see Lynda.com for Chris Meyer and the good, bad, and the gotcha’s about CS5 (be sure your OS is 64 bit and the later the better. More memory for CS5)

Special techniques, faster rendering, faster editing, faster everything

still no download trials – dogone it Sarah !

CS5 and Cinema4d and AE and Premiere Pro

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

We hear CS5 has some special romance with Cinema4d. Simple techniques to export your Cinema file to AE, 64 bit memory addressing capability. There are many features which offer special performance that overlap with one another.

You need to have a 64 bit OS to address more than 3 gig of memory but 64 bit has been around for a while. Faster rendering comes with the cuda Nvidia cards but Badaboom has been around for a while too. And the marriage of cuda with the Mercury engine lets Premiere Pro do ‘real time’ editing and rendering in incredible reduced windows.

Yeah, many of these contributors have been around for a while but with CS5 rewritten for 64 bit, and the release of the Mercury engine, they all play nice together. It will be great fun to see the new creations but some of my greatest excitement will remain in the cutting room -

the movie will be just as creative as it was before … or not … the output will be quite similar and the viewing experience too. But the time editing and processing will be shattered ….

which should make for a happier, more creative crew. Let’s see !

Adobe CS5 – brave new world

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

well, it’s  happened and I wish I had a fresh example of something that CS5 made possible. We hear of so many improvements in so many  areas, depending on what your specialty is, some may much more special.

But hey, it’s hard to compartmentalize the 64 bit capability of CS5. Whatever you do, whichever application you used to do it – you’re going to have a lot more memory to do it with now. I personally was on the verge of getting a monster work station and it’s still in my dreams but

you know the old adage, when you apply several enhancements at once, and your  performance is significantly improved, you really don’t know which one gets the credit.

I know of a few discreet components

and mixed and blended conversations have shed some light.

64 os. Simply having a 64 Operating System, and CS5 being a 64 application singularly allows it to address much much more memory.

I’ll ready for CS5 with Trapcode lights dancing in my dreams

Monday, April 12th, 2010

Well, tonight’s the night as they say. And as we ready for CS5, I’m playing a bit with Trapcode, dancing lights and shiny things.

Adobe CS5 tomorrow

It took a while to render. Took a while did I say ? I ran out of disk space did I say ? It too long to edit ?

ahhh … let’s enjoy some some sweet frustration this last night before …. creating video … and waiting … simply part ways. Hey, it was sweet.

After Effects … and Smiles

Wednesday, February 10th, 2010

Smiles are the statement of the day as we create something clever for our friend the dentist. With some nice ‘outdoorsey’ photo’s that reflect our ‘deeper sensibilities’, there seemed to be something missing -

Smiles !

so, using the After Effects bulge effect and a little tracking on our magnifying glass, it was quite easy to create a  simple pan …  of some very happy teeth, some quite appropriate smiles for our dental site.
